“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”—John 14:26.

* About fourteen years ago; my friend Jerry asked me if I was born again. “What does that mean?” I confessed to her. We were in church at the time. I felt really stupid. I knew all about the pastor’s week at church, but I didn’t know this concept. Jerry told me that it meant that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I felt relieved. “Yeah, I guess I am.” I smiled.

We can go to church and hear so much stuff but we ought to be able to tell people what we believe. After that conversation with my friend; I took a journey which also led me to a Bible teaching church and I found out a lot more. Let me explain that my old church was not at fault for my lack of knowledge; I take all of the blame. It was there that I learned what faith was.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE BORN AGAIN?

Being born again involves a change on the inside of you. It can be “seen” by people who know you and those who don’t. The love of God permeates your whole being. You’re not just nice to the people at your church; you’re just a nice person. There is no sinning in you. You know that Jesus was sent by the Father to pay the penalty for our sin and that penalty was death on the cross. You also know that Jesus rose from the grave on the 3rd day and is now seated at the right hand of the Father as your great high priest who makes intercession for you.

As a born again believer; you don’t just know all of this, but your life is committed to God. Jesus said that he and the Father are One. Your church, your friends, your scripture quoting, your service in the church, or good deeds can’t get you eternal life; though a lot of people in the world may think this. It’s a myth! It’s receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Master and believing on His Name.

A born again believer is automatically in right standing with God; but practices to stay that way by making a daily effort to keep the commandments; putting God first in his or her lives.

God’s Commandments are simple in the New Testament:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart (Mt 22:37-40)

Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Our standards are different as born again believers. We don’t follow the world’s way of doing things with money (getting into debt), politics, (upholding those who don’t hold to Christian values even when they are popular), social mores, (people who live by what is acceptable to the world, but not to God) and so forth. Our lifestyle is dictated by what pleases God Almighty.

HOW TO BE BORN AGAIN

Romans 10: 9, 10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the mouth confession is made to salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

Romans 10: 13 For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God won’t turn you away. God loves you.

For Your hand is not so short that it cannot save, and neither is Your ear so dull that it cannot hear, for whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Isaiah 59:1

I was saved and didn’t know God. I had been raised in “religious tradition.” I was in a church and there was no one to help me and it wasn’t their fault. It was a discovery that I was going to have to make myself, but years went by because I didn’t know it. However, good things happened to me while I was there and I’m sure that it was the mercy of God.

I had been raised in the church and so I knew a few things. But, I didn’t know the Word of God and the bible is that. I never read my bible. I had gotten a few urges to do so over the years but every time I came up with an excuse. True enough as a result, the victory was that much sweeter when it came. I didn’t know “nothing.” As a result, the devil decided to mess with me.

In true to form attempted murder mode; the devil tried to kill me with a brain tumor. I was still at the above mentioned church and that was when I knew that in that place I had learned something; I learned about faith. All of my steps were ordered by the Lord during that challenge. I got the victory!

I changed. I needed God to guide my life, I trusted no one else to do the job. I ran to Him. I rededicated my life to HIm and then I found a new place where I could grow and soon I found out that God not only heard me but He had been trying to tell me some stuff.

DESENSITIZED…

The average person is desensitized to believing that people can actually “hear” from God. I’ll tell you why:

Basically because we all knew someone whom we deemed to be “strange” by normal standards who claimed they heard from God and seemed to be able to “twist” the bible because they knew it better than us. We knew something was wrong so we “decided” they didn’t and no one could. They were the only ones saying it so they had to be crazy right?

So people were…desensitized and have been. Some were compromised; they believe but they want to stand back until a crisis comes, that way they can still do the things that the flesh desires and not what God desires.

What if your crisis comes and the one that comes has the potential to take you or your family members out? If you were to leave this earth in the next 30 minutes m(God forbid) are you really sure about whether you’d go to heaven or hell?

If you are sure; make a decision to make Jesus The Lord and Master of your life HERE.

Take care of it today; you’ll be glad that you did!lanieavagarden.jpg

THIS IS SO POWERFUL! SO POWERFUL!

There are two different words used for salvation in the Old and New Testaments (ye shuw’ ah and soteria). but they both have the same meaning: deliverance, safety, healing and soundness. This may come as a surprise to some who believed their salvation only guaranteed them a place in Heaven. Let me quickly say that if it were the only provision that salvation offered, it certainly would be enough; but when God saved you, He had more in store for you. Many scriptures bear witness to this fact. Galatians 3:14, which tell us the blessings of Abraham are ours, is only one example. You can receive all the other promises of God the same way you received your deliverance from the kingdom of darkness.

Romans 10:9&10 states: “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” That is the procedure for receiving all the other promises of God . . . . believing and confessing. When the confession of your lips harmonizes with the confession of your heart, you will then have the thing sought after. A search of the letters to the Churches in the New Testament will give you a vivid description of who you are in Christ if you are a believer. It may not be manifest in your life at this moment, but that is still part of your inheritance as a child of God. Let’s use an example. Philippians 4:19 proclaims “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” You might say this is definitely not true in your life because you have nothing but lack. Well I want to tell you there is a difference between “facts” and the Truth. God’s word is true regardless of what may be manifest at any particular moment in your life.

We should take God’s Word, personalize it, and begin to confess it. Our example from Philippians would then read, “My God supplies all my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. Repeat it aloud and often because faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). As you hear God’s Word, the belief in your heart will grow and, as we said before, when the confession of your heart harmonizes with the confession of your mouth, you will receive. We just used that Philippians scripture as an example. There are a multitude of other promises you should personalize and use. When you start this process you might encounter some difficulty. Your mind might balk at confessing things which haven’t been actualized as yet. You need to override those objections and boldly declare what God has said about you. In addition to that you must persist! Your confession is planting seeds of faith in your heart. They won’t bear fruit overnight. Just as the farmer must be patient, you must be patient. It may take weeks or months, but if you continue and don’t faint, your harvest will be bountiful!!!
